IgG Food Sensitivity Testing: Discover the Foods That Don’t Love You Back

Laboratories

At Macau Innovatus, our mission is to help people understand their bodies through science-based wellness testing. Our IgG Food Sensitivity Test is a valuable tool designed to identify foods that may be triggering hidden immune reactions and contributing to chronic symptoms. With precise data and professional guidance, you can make targeted dietary changes to restore balance and well-being.

Why Test for Food Sensitivity?

Food sensitivities occur when the immune system reacts adversely to certain foods — often those eaten frequently or even craved. Unlike classic allergies that trigger immediate and severe reactions, food sensitivities are delayed responses that may appear hours or even days after eating the offending food.

These reactions are mediated by IgG antibodies (Type III immune reactions), which, under normal circumstances, are harmless. However, when the digestive or immune system is compromised, elevated IgG antibodies can provoke inflammation and contribute to a range of chronic health issues.

Common conditions associated with raised food-specific IgG antibodies include:

  • Migraine and chronic headaches
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bloating, constipation, or diarrhoea
  • Asthma and skin conditions such as dermatitis or eczema
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Weight management difficulties

Clinical studies and years of practitioner experience have shown that diets based on IgG food sensitivity testing can significantly improve these conditions.

IgG vs. IgE — Understanding the Difference

It’s important to distinguish between food sensitivity (IgG) and food allergy (IgE):

  • IgE Allergies (Type I) cause immediate reactions — such as hives, swelling, or anaphylaxis — and can be life-threatening. These reactions will not appear on an IgG test.
  • IgG Sensitivities (Type III) produce delayed symptoms that may take up to 72 hours to develop, making them difficult to identify without testing.

Both involve the immune system, but their timing, mechanisms, and impacts are very different. The IgG Food Sensitivity Test focuses exclusively on the slower, chronic responses that affect long-term wellness.

How the Test Works

Using a small finger-prick blood sample, our laboratory measures IgG antibody responses to more than 200 common foods — including dairy, grains, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, nuts, and beverages.

The test employs advanced microarray technology, which offers superior accuracy and efficiency compared with traditional plate-based ELISA tests. Food extracts are printed on a glass microarray slide, and your diluted sample is analyzed for food-specific IgG binding using a high-resolution scanner.

Results are then calibrated and reported through specialized software, producing a personalized, color-coded report categorizing each food as:

  • Elevated
  • Borderline
  • Normal

The report groups foods by category and provides clear numerical IgG values (U/mL), enabling your healthcare practitioner to design a custom elimination or rotation diet that supports your health goals.

Transform Information Into Action

Armed with your results, you and your healthcare professional can identify problematic foods and develop a plan that may include:

  • Temporary elimination or rotation of reactive foods
  • Nutritional adjustments to heal the gut and reduce inflammation
  • Lifestyle and supplementation recommendations to restore immune balance

Follow-up testing after 4–6 months can confirm your body’s response and progress.

Important to Know

  • Not suitable for individuals on immunosuppressant or antibody therapies, undergoing cancer treatment, or with blood clotting disorders.
  • Recommended for individuals aged 2 years and above.
  • Maintain your usual diet before testing to ensure accurate results. If you’ve avoided a food for more than three months and wish to include it in testing, reintroduce it in normal amounts for five days prior (unless you experience adverse symptoms).
  • This test does not diagnose coeliac disease, enzyme deficiencies (e.g., lactose intolerance), histamine or alcohol intolerance, or reactions to food additives.
